“Alice Dancing Under the Gallows” is a new documentary about the oldest Holocaust survivor in the world, Alice Herz-Sommer, celebrating her 107th birthday this month. At age 39, she was put into a concentration camp used by the Nazi’s as the propoganda camp, where fellow artists were forced to put on a “happy face” to show the world that victims were treated fairly. Another survivor described it as “dancing under the gallows” from which the movie was named. Alice performed over 100 piano concerts in the camp, and continues to play today, an inspiration for all.
